VISION
Our vision is to create and sustain an enriching community of like-minded people bonding over woodworking and other social activities, creating a sense of purpose and belonging for all involved.
MISSION
Regardless of diagnosis, condition or level of ability, you are not defined by what you cannot do. It’s our mission to focus only on what you can do and to help you challenge your perceived limitations. Together, we can build new skills and abilities, while creating friendships along the way.

FOUNDER STORY
In 2016, having achieved what society would’ve considered “successful”, Shevy found himself miserable and deeply unfulfilled in the corporate world.
“My tipping point / significant moment was when I bought a second car… a 1965 Mustang. When I drove it home, something just didn’t feel right. This led me down a path of deep introspection. I realised I was trapped by societal conditioning and the debt I’d taken on to maintain an image completely misaligned with my values. I realised my confidence and my entire self-worth revolved around what I did for work, what I earned and what I owned. Once I accepted that I bought the Mustang for 'status', I decided to make drastic changes”.
And thus, began the transformation. Over several years, this involved selling his possessions and starting over twice, 9 jobs in nearly as many industries, including the birth of a pallet furniture business and 6 months of backpacking throughout south east Asia. All in pursuit of finding passion, purpose and fulfilment.
“In mid 2020, after starting over for the second time, fulfilling furniture orders amidst lockdowns of COVID and labouring in construction, I got into disability support work based on a housemate’s suggestion. This started as 1-hour video calls teaching guitar each week to a young guy by the name of Lachlan. As fate would have it, just as the construction job ended, I was asked by three other people to support them and the rest they say, is history.”
In 2022, after 18 months in the industry, Shevy founded This Ability Crew. An innovative disability services business where he shares his love of woodworking and carpentry with people in a unique and impactful way. Shevy brings together a unique set of technical skills from experience across many different industries combined with patience, compassion and an innate ability to connect with people to create a meaningful experience in each and every workshop.
“TAC represents so much more to me than just a business. It’s about connection and vulnerability, it’s about respect and acceptance of each other’s uniqueness, it’s about encouraging others to find and follow their passion, as well as exploring creative ways to earn an income while giving back to the community”.
After successfully completing his Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) in 2023 and having gained valuable insight into the challenges faced by people with disabilities, especially around employment, Shevy saw an opportunity to make a difference financially. He made it his mission to create income for the crew and add as much value to their lives as possible in as many ways as he could. Whether that be through facilitating order fulfilment, sharing information and knowledge, challenging perceived limitations, mentoring, creating a safe place for people to be vulnerable and pushing people outside of their comfort zones, “we’re all in this together and we absolutely have to look out for one another”.
