Social Impact

This Ability Crew's social impact program offers NDIS woodworking workshops in Brisbane with the opportunity to create an income stream for participants.

So far, just over $7k has been earned for the crew from nearly 90 orders facilitated through TAC's local community network.

As a conservative estimate, at least $18k of costs have been saved for the crew from items made in the workshop, which would otherwise have had to be purchased. Labour costs have also been avoided through our Mobile Handyman Workshops for basic trade work. I.e. carpentry, painting, landscaping, that would've had to be paid to a tradesman.

This estimate does not include refurbished furniture, items made for customer orders or money that customers themselves have saved by only paying for materials for custom furniture.

On average, we dismantle 2 pallets per week for use in our workshops, which means at least 300 pallets have avoided ending up in landfill since the beginning of 2022.
